Step Trek is Saturday, October 5, 2013.
The Step Trek committee is busy cleaning up the routes along with help from the city and students from Duquesne University, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Pittsburgh. Our second fundraiser for the South Side Park will take place at Acacia on June 3rd, South Side’s premier cocktail bar. Acacia has graciously offered their space and a generous percentage of their profits. All funds raised will go towards the signage of trails in the park and signs for the parks entrances to direct people into this great neighborhood amenity.
At 6pm we will lead a tour into some of the park trails and throw in some steps for good measure – consider it a mini-StepTrek. The tour will take about an hour. We will meet outside of Acacia.
At 7pm the official fundraiser will start and will continue until 9pm. We will have delicious cocktails (and maybe a themed South Side Slopes concoction), the Steer and Wheel food truck, and maybe some live music. Did we mention delicious cocktails?

As a reminder, our next general meeting will be a “Meet the Candidates” meeting. All mayoral candidates should be in attendance. We will have a sign-in sheet for you to write down your questions for the candidates.
Be an informed South Side Slopes voter and come to this meeting April 9, 2013 at the Monastery at 7PM.
Primary elections are Tuesday May 21, 2013. If you’re not registered to vote in the primary, you can register until Monday April 22, 2013. You must be associated with either the Republican or Democratic party in order to vote in their party.

Join us this Saturday 11/19 at 10 AM at the 18th Street entrance to South Side Park to plant ten new trees. Registration is required. Please go to http://www.paconserve.org/300 to reserve your spot.
Our annual Christmas Celebration will be held on Tuesday, December 13th at 7PM at St. Paul’s.
Our next general meeting will be held on Tuesday October 11 PM at St Paul’s. We hope to see you there!
The StepTrek Committee is beginning to lead clean ups on the routes for StepTrek 2011 and needs your help. Meet at 10:00 Saturday, 8/13 at Mission and Sterling Streets. Any time you can give would be most appreciated by the committee. Email Brian Oswald brian.oswald@southsideslopes.org with any questions. Reminder – StepTrek 2011 will be held on Saturday, October 8th.
The South Side Sabers will be having the 1st Annual South Side Sabers Fun Day, this Saturday, the 30th from 12:00 – 6:00 at Quarry Field. Please let friends, family, neighbors who have children know.
Come join your neighbors and celebrate summer at the SSSNA Picnic on Tuesday, July 12 at 6PM. Enter the park off of 18th Street by Quarry Field. Hot dogs, Hamburgers, and drinks will be provided… please bring a salad or desert to share. Feel free to bring a lawn chair, your ball glove, a Frisbee or any other game to play.
