StepTrek 2025 FAQ

What is StepTrek?

It is a family-friendly noncompetitive walk through the South Side Slopes neighborhood. It is a self-guided tour using maps and narratives. There are a series of streets, sidewalks and public stairways to walk.

Can I register online?

What is the cost?

The 2025 event is pay-what-you-can with a suggested donation of $10 per person. Children 16 and under are free.

Can I register on the day of StepTrek?

Yes. In-person registration is from 10am-2pm on Saturday, Oct 4 in South Side Park (21st & Josephine Streets, under the Mission St Bridge) or you can register online and have access to the digital maps.
Where can I park?
On-street parking is available near the StepTrek Main Stage area on Josephine St.  Parking is also available in the lot at 23rd & Jane Streets.

Can I volunteer to help?

Yes, we love our volunteers! If you volunteer, you get a free t-shirt, and you can walk the routes before or after your shift. Sign up here.

Is there food or drink?

How do I access the maps?

A link to download the digital maps and route narratives will be sent on October 3 (by 10pm).   The digital maps and route narratives allow you to walk the routes during the event on October 4, or any time after that day.
Can I get a hard-copy map?
In-person check-in, where you can pick up a hard-copy map will begin at 10am on Oct 4 in South Side Park (21st & Josephine Streets, under the Mission St Bridge).
