  • Clean up The Slopes

    I have received a number of emails regarding overgrowth, weed-filled gardens, and trash on the Slopes. In an effort to clean up our neighborghood, the SSSNA is sponsoring cleanups the next two Saturdays 8/7 and 8/14 at 9-11 AM and 1-3 PM. Meet at the Veronica’s Veil parking lot at 66 Pius Street. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.

    These cleanups can only be successful if you come out to help. We need volunteers to help keep our neighborhood clean.

  • Need a night out????

    Come to the Night At the Races on Saturday August 21, 2010 at the Veronica’s Veil Auditorium, 44 Pius Street. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the races start at 7:00 PM.

    $7.00 will get you food, beer and refreshments as well as a chance to place bets on horses in all the races. (Adults Only)

    Buy a horse!

    There are 10 races and 10 horses in each race.

    Horses are $10.00 each. If your horse wins, you win $50.00.

  • Community Block Party, Backpack Giveaway, and Kids Bash

    On August 10th -13th, LifeStone Church will be hosting a variety of FUN and FREE activities for South Side families to enjoy:

    Tues- Thurs, August 10th, 11th, & 12th – Jungle Mania Kids! An interactive kid’s bash service with music, games, prizes, and more! Festivities will be taking place at W.Y.E.P (67 Bedford Square) starting at 7pm.

    Friday, August 13th – Community Block Party & Backpack Giveaway! Join us for FREE food, games, inflatables, cotton candy, and more! Plus, the first 250 elementary age students in line will receive FREE backpacks filled with school supplies! The event will be taking place at Armstrong Field (13th and Sarah St.) from 6-8pm.

    All events are FREE and no pre-registration is required.

  • Summer Celebration

    Join us at games n’at at 6:30 on Tuesday July 13th for our Summer Picnic.  Burger and Hot Dogs will be provided.  If you can, bring a side dish or desert to share.  Stay tuned for more information.

  • General Meeting – 6/8 – Brashear Association

    Side Slopes Neighborhood Association will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday evening, June 8th, at St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center.  The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM.

    Jenn Jeffers from the Brashear Association will be with us to talk about Brashear’s Christmas in July toy drive.

    This will be a short meeting. After the meeting we will proceed to a neighborhood service project, perhaps some weeding and gardening at one of our neighborhood gardens. If you want to help us with that, please come dressed for it and bring a gardening tool if you have one.

  • General Meeting 5/11 – StepTrek

    Join us on Tuesday 5/11 2010 for our May general meeting. The StepTrek Committee will be at the general meeting to brainstorm about ideas for the 10th Anniversary StepTrek this October, 10th.  Please come and share your ideas to make this the best StepTrek yet.  The meeting will start at 7:00 PM in the Main Lounge of St Paul of the Cross Retreat Center, 148 Monastery Avenue.

  • Garden Planting, May 8th

    Come join us to plant 2 community gardens on Saturday May, 8 at 9:00 AM.  We will meet at the Greeley Street Garden at the corner of Greeley and Josephine Streets.

  • 10th Anniversary StepTrek Date Announced – October 10, 2010

    The StepTrek committee is pleased to announce that the 10th Anniversary StepTrek will be held on 10-10-10.  We will be celebrating ten years of StepTrek. We are celebrating you, our Trekkers. New Routes, new things to look at, as well as photo collages and memories from every Trek.  Please, join us for number 10!

    We will be posting more details in the next few weeks and once again will have Active.com registration available.

  • SSSNA General Meeting – 4/13

    The next meeting of the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association will be on Tuesday 4/13 at 7:00 PM in the Main Lounge of St Paul of the Cross Monastery, 148 Monastery Ave.  Our Committee chairs will be discussing their committees and recruiting members to help with our summer projects. We have many volunteer opportunities scheduled for this Summer.  Please email info@southsideslopes.org for more information.

  • Community Cleanup – 4/17

    Volunteeres are needed for a community cleanup on Saturday 4/17. Meet at 9:00 PM at 18th and Carson Streets.  We need people to help manage many college and public service volunteers in a cleanup of the Slopes.  If you would like to lead a group to an area in the slopes that needs to be cleaned up, contact misi bielich – misi.bielich(at)southsideslopes.org
