Pittsburgh StepTrek is the annual South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association fundraiser that supports projects for the betterment of the community. The 2026 routes will take a tour of the hillsides and spectacular views that distinguish Pittsburgh as you explore the South Side Slopes over 2,259 steps.
GOLD ROUTE
The Gold Route traverses 1,072 steps sprawled across the Western side of the South Side Slopes. Green spaces and views are the highlights on this side of the neighborhood. This route explores South Side Park before walking the trails of Knoxville Incline Greenway and hopping back and forth between the Flats and Slopes over the railroad bridges.
BLACK ROUTE
The Black Route boasts 1,187 steps as it traverses the Eastern side of the South Side Slopes. You’ll enjoy the Oakley Way Mosaic Steps as you begin the UPMC Big Bell Climb of 286 steps up to Mission St’s spectacular panorama. Views are everywhere on this route as it reaches the high point of the Slopes at “The Fort” before winding down through South Side Park.
There’s lots of photo ops on this year’s routes so don’t forget to tag us in your pics, @SouthSideSlopes and #StepTrek.
