24th Annual Pittsburgh Step Trek
Pittsburgh StepTrek is the annual South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association fundraiser that supports projects for the betterment of the community. This family-friendly event combines photography, historic narrative and a sense of neighborhood dependent upon steps. Through this annual event, we keep the city focused on maintenance of city steps throughout the neighborhood.
A link to download the digital maps and route narratives will be sent on October 4 (by 10pm). In-person check-in, where you can pick up a hard-copy map, will begin at 10am on Oct 5 at S 28th & Sidney Streets (in the SouthSide Works). You do not need to stop at in-person check-in unless you are picking up a map or pre-ordered merch.

2024 Garbage Olympics
Once again, the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association will be competing in the Garbage Olympics! Let’s make our neighborhood for extra clean for #StepTrek!The Garbage Olympics is Pittsburgh’s yearly neighborhood vs neighborhood competition to see who can pick up the most trash!After the cleanup, there is a post event party at Velum Fermentation with free refreshments and prizes. August Cleanup
Our August cleanup will start at Bandi Schaum, meeting at 6pm as always. Hope to see you all there! We will start tackling possible StepTrek routes. Would be great to also have a large group so that we can divide into more areas.

National Night Out
THIS EVENT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO THE WEATHER
Join us on Tuesday, August 6th at 6:30pm for National Night Out. The South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association will be hosting a pot luck and cornhole competition at Quarry Field (located between Saber Way at St. Patrick St). So grab your friends and your favorite picnic dish for a night of neighborly fun! Can’t wait to see you there!

SSSNA Development Activities Meeting – June 25, 2024
South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association is hosting a virtual Development Activities Meeting (DAM) on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.
What: 1515 Saint Patrick St – Seeking to be certified by the Zoning Board of Adjustment for a legally non-conforming use as a two-unit residence in a Hillside zoning district, by demonstrating historic use as duplex
Why: SSSNA is a Registered Community Organization (RCO) through the Department of City Planning to provide input and feedback on local development activities and planning procedures in partnership with community stake holders.
Where: This will be a virtual Zoom meeting. The meeting zoom link will be sent via email to the SSSNA e-blast list before the meeting. If you do not receive it, please email info@southsideslopes.org to be added to the list or receive the Zoom meeting link.

2024 SSSNA Flower Contest
Do you love to garden? Are you excited to show off your green thumb this year? Then enter the South Side Slopes Flower Contest, open to all Slopes residents!
Focusing on the front-facing façade of your home, we will have $100 giftcard prizes for:- Best Simple Planter – for those with little space but go above and beyond with a single pot or window box
- Best Front Garden – for those who have more than a simple planter and want to go all in
- Most Popular – where your vote will determine the best out there!
The space must be at least 80% green (we love a good statue but we want to see your green thumbs at work.) Also, it must be visible from the street or a public space.
Submissions must be in by Sunday, July 28th, with garden spaces to be ready to photograph by Friday, August 9th. Photographs would likely be taken over the weekend of August 9th, or the next sunny day.
Voting will occur between August 26th to September 2nd and winners will be announced by Friday September 6th.
Feeling like trekking it? Maps will be available on Social Media around August 26th.Can’t wait to beautify the neighborhood with you!
